Steel pipe inspection terminology

2018-10-15

1.In-pipe inspection
Detection by a detector operating in a pipeline that collects and records pipeline information in real time, also known as intelligent detection
2. Deformation detection
In-pipe inspection for the purpose of detecting the geometric deformation of the pipe
3. Corrosion detection
In-pipe inspection for the purpose of detecting metal loss such as pipe wall corrosion and mechanical damage
4. Measuring board
A round soft metal disc (usually an aluminum pan) mounted on a pig with a diameter smaller than the smallest inner diameter of the normal pipe. Used to find a certain amount of change in pipe diameter.
5. Simulator
The external features are similar to the detectors, passing the same pig with the same capabilities as the detector.
6. Set the standard
To achieve the detection and recording of the passage of the detector, or the signal it emits can be detected by the detector.
7. Ground table machine
A device capable of detecting and recording the passage of a detector or a signal it can be detected by a monitor.
8. Pipe features
The metal loss, dent, elliptical deformation, and auxiliary facilities of the pipe detected by the detector.
9. detectable probability
Refers to the probability that the detector detects the wall feature
10. Credibility
Measure the compliance of the report data with the actual situation of the pipeline.
11. Internal metal loss
Metal loss occurring on the inner surface of the pipe wall and metal loss inside the pipe body.
12. External metal loss
Metal loss that occurs on the outer surface of the pipe wall.
13. Pre-assessment of repair ratio
The ratio of the maximum allowable operating pressure to the safe operating pressure calculated by the metal loss assessment method.
14. Piping
Use equipment that can be operated independently in the pipeline to clean up impurities, deposits and wax in the pipeline.
15. Verification
The way to review the test results.
